Week in Review: Officials Considering Shared Services

A look back at the past week in Westwood and Washington Township.

 

Westwood and Washington Township officials are considering several possible shared services agreements with other area municipalities and the county. Some of the potential plans include sharing police dispatchers, courts and making bulk purchases of new equipment.

There will be a trial run this week to test if one dispatch desk can handle emergency calls for Westwood, Washington Twp., Old Tappan and River Vale.

The Washington Township Council passed an ordinance setting the per diem rates for the township's alternate proscutor and special police officers, who working events like parades.

The council also set dates to go over the 2012 budget. The next meeting will be February 13 at 6 p.m.

The YJCC's swim team completed their undefeated season this week. They will compete in the state championships in March.

The Westwood Library, along with other local groups, hosted the third annual Green Screen this week, which featured a total of nine movies with the common theme of environmentalism. The final two movies will be screened Sunday afternoon: African Cats at the Hillsdale Library at 2 p.m. and Wall-E at the Westwood library at 3 p.m.
