Heritage Society to Award Scholarship to Westwood Student

The deadline to apply is April 30.

 

The Westwood Heritage Society will be awarding scholarships totaling $2,000 to a high school student who is a resident of Westwood, NJ and who is completing his or her senior year.

The society is a volunteer organization that is dedicated to the preservation of the history, beauty and spirit of the Borough of Westwood.

The Scholarship, which is dedicated to the memory of Cheryl Todd, former
Borough Historian, who devoted her life as a volunteer to the research and
preservation of the history and heritage of the Borough of Westwood, will be
awarded to a student who has been accepted for enrollment in a post-high
school educational program and who has a demonstrated record of community
service in the Borough of Westwood.

The criteria for the Scholarship are:

  • Resident of the Borough of Westwood, N.J.
  • High school student in his/her senior year.
  • Accepted for enrollment in a post-high school educational program.
  • Record of community service related to the preservation of the history, beauty and spirit of Westwood.
  • An essay (500 to 1000 words) explaining how the service related to the preservation of the history, beauty and spirit of Westwood has affected the applicant's life.
  • Dedicate a minimum of three hours of service time to the Westwood Heritage Society by assisting the Museum archivist, staffing a Saturday Museum Open House, or other related service that is approved by the Scholarship Committee.
  • Attend one or more meetings of the Westwood Heritage Society.
